It’s no wonder that Leslieville is home to one of the densest puppy populations in Toronto. With so many dog friendly places to discover, you’ll barely ever need to leave your dog at home. Let’s take a look at what makes this neighbourhood worth barking about.
PARKS
Leslieville is filled with parks to bring your pooch to. There are two within a ten-minute walk of The Poet that have designated off-leash areas so your favourite four-legged friend can run free! Greenwood Park has a massive enclosed area for dogs big and small to roam around in and it’s a great place to meet your new neighbours. If your dog is a little on the shy side, you can also visit Hideaway Park. A smaller off-leash area means that timid pups can run to their heart’s content without worry.
DOG FRIENDLY BUSINESSES
Many of Leslieville’s restaurants are getting in on the dog love. Mad Dog Café is mad about dogs. It’s a great brunch and lunch spot with delicious baked goods that will let you bring your pup with you while on their patio. Just steps south from The Poet is Black Lab Brewing, a great new microbrewery that has just joined the neighbourhood. Named in honour of the owner’s 9-year-old black lab Snoopy, all dogs are welcome inside this great new area brewery.
DOG SHOPS
Queen St. East is…littered with great local shops for you to pamper your pooch. Tom&Sawyer is a great place to get fresh prepared meals for your pet, Timmie Doggie Outfitters will deck your dog out in the most stylish threads, and The Bone House is a great place to find a very thoughtfully curated selection of items like travel beds and pet-friendly pumpkin spice lattes designed with your pup and the environment in mind.
DOG AMENITIES
Home isn’t just where the heart is, it’s where the dog is. At The Poet we want to make sure you love your home and we want to make sure your dog does too. That’s why we’ve taken extra steps to make this a pet-friendly building with amenities for their use. The open concept floor plans will give your dog plenty of room to run around, the thick walls will prevent your pet from getting spooked, and the dog washing station in the building will make sure your pup is looking their best every day of the year.
